About us
The Metropolitan Old Catholic Church is a sacramental, inclusive, and independent Catholic community rooted in the ancient faith of the Church and open to the movement of the Holy Spirit in today’s world.
We stand within the tradition of Old Catholicism, drawing inspiration from the undivided Church of the first millennium. We uphold the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the teachings of Holy Scripture, and the historic creeds, while embracing a spirit of pastoral sensitivity, theological openness, and compassionate service.
We are a community committed to living out the love of Christ through worship, service, and fellowship. Our life is centred on the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, prayer, and the sacraments, which nourish and sustain us in our faith journey.
We affirm the dignity and worth of every person and strive to create a church where all are welcomed, respected, and valued — regardless of background, gender, identity, or life experience.
Our faith is both ancient and living.
We believe in:
The Holy Trinity: Creator, Christ, and Holy Spirit
The saving love and ministry of Jesus Christ
The presence of Christ in the sacraments
The authority of Scripture, interpreted through tradition and reason
The call to love, justice, and compassion
We hold to the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds as expressions of the historic Christian faith.
As an Old Catholic Church, we:
Draw from the traditions of the early, undivided Church
Value apostolic succession and sacramental life
Encourage theological reflection and responsible freedom of conscience
Seek unity among Christians while honouring diversity
We are independent in governance but catholic in faith and practice.
Our mission is to proclaim the Gospel, celebrate the sacraments, and serve the world in love.
We are called to:
Build inclusive and welcoming communities
Support spiritual growth and discipleship
Care for those in need
Work for justice, peace, and reconciliation
